2024 event recap
Community Diversity Mural
Hosted August 2024 by the Beaverton Night Market, exhibition held in the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts.
This experience was dedicated to diversity. Leche created two interactive murals for the children of Beaverton to fill in. Using pieces from a collection called Caged Fruit. The seeds represent each of us and our abilities to grow. Growth here dedicated to loving our neighbors as we love ourselves. Thank you to everyone who picked up a paint brush and helped us create and celebrate our diversity.
Hosted by Rhythm Community Studio, June 29th. Leche in collaboration with Leaves x Laces and Kilo D’Cofi
This exhibition was designed to be interactive. Leaves x Laces prepared an experience that allowed you to bring your house plants in to be repotted in new soil. The experience expressed change of environment and maintenance.
Leche showcased a film collection created in Panama, March 2024. The collection was created by traveling across 6 cities throughout the country with the artist mother. The trip was filled with lessons on connecting to our roots and celebrating the place & people we come from.
El Óleo was a project I started January 2024, after becoming aware of the massive and successful protest that was held in the fall of 2023 via Panama. I wanted to share the struggles and strengths of my people. As a proud biracial women, shedding light on an ecological crisis that big oil companies have created brings my soul joy. Especially because the Panamanian people showed out and won their cases in the court.
I’m honored to have created this project with my close friends. Shout out to Chelsey & Mayte. I am so grateful to you both for helping me bring my vision to life.
We rented a gallery space to hold a photo shoot. I wanted to use my female body as representation for ties to culture & nature in my piece. We created a faux crude oil by mixing willow bark charcoal and olive oil. I use this same charcoal in a collection called Caged Fruit. I saturated myself in the faux oil to portray effects of pollution.
This event was held at The Portland Armory, built in 1891. With a yoga class and wine to enjoy before witnessing the art.
WE need to be paying attention to the movements and desires these companies hold.
WE are the only things in their way of destruction and profit.
WE hold the power.
Let us use our voices, bodies and minds to fight back!
